THE MINI GUIDE
Christmas in New York, already figured out.
The classics belong here — Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Radio City — but the KALLAN part is knowing how to do them: the walking order, where to stop, where to eat, what to reserve and the little things worth knowing along the way.
2026 HOLIDAY UPDATE New York releases many of its Christmas dates, menus, displays and seasonal experiences throughout the fall. We’ll keep updating this guide as those details are announced, so check back before your trip for the latest KALLAN picks.
2 DAYSHOLIDAY NYCDESIGNED TO WALKMAP INCLUDED
DAY ONE
The KALLAN Holiday Walk
The Plaza → Bergdorf + BG Lunch → Fifth Avenue → St. Patrick’s → Rockefeller Center → Pick Your Evening
01
DAY ONE
Fifth Avenue at Christmas
01
The Plaza | Start Here
Begin at The Plaza and take in the lobby and holiday decorations before heading onto Fifth Avenue. If you are staying here, even better — the KALLAN Holiday Walk starts right outside.
KALLAN NOTE An obvious KALLAN pick — and at Christmas, for good reason. The Plaza’s 2026 Holiday Afternoon Tea is now live at The Palm Court, served from 11 AM–4 PM in three seatings with a festive seasonal menu. Reservations open 90 days ahead for registered hotel guests and 60 days ahead for the public, so book separately if it is on your list.
ONE LAST HOLIDAY SEASON BEFORE RESTORATION The Plaza has announced a temporary closure beginning in January 2027 for a major, multi-year restoration of its historic façade. This is the last Christmas season to experience the hotel before that work begins. Check current access and reservations before visiting.
See Bergdorf’s holiday windows, then head inside. If you have time, make your way through the upper floors for the seasonal trees and displays before lunch.
11:30 AM | Lunch at BG Restaurant. Reserve the first seating and request a window table overlooking Central Park. Keep lunch leisurely but not too long — Fifth Avenue is next.
KALLAN NOTE December is not the time to count on a walk-in. Reserve ahead. You do not need to explore the entire store: windows + holiday displays + BG lunch are the experience.
Leave Bergdorf and continue south on Fifth Avenue toward Rockefeller Center. Take your time with the flagship storefronts and annual holiday installations — this stretch is part of the experience, not just the route between stops.
KALLAN NOTE The windows are beautiful during the day, but if you’re nearby after dark, walk this stretch again — Fifth Avenue is at its best once everything is lit. The best displays change every year, and we’ll update this stop with the specific 2026 storefronts and installations worth pausing for as soon as they’re revealed.
04
St. Patrick’s Cathedral | Step Inside
Walk into St. Patrick’s for a quieter moment in the middle of Fifth Avenue. Take in the cathedral, light a candle if you wish, then continue across the avenue toward Rockefeller Center.
KALLAN NOTE This is a stop, not a full tour. Give it about 15–20 minutes unless you want to stay longer.
See the tree, angels, Prometheus and the rink. Walk the plaza and enjoy the atmosphere — you do not have to skate to make this stop worth it.
KALLAN NOTE Aim to reach Rockefeller Center as daylight fades so you get the tree and Fifth Avenue lights at their best. The 2026 tree arrives at Rockefeller Center on November 7 and the Tree Lighting Ceremony is December 2. Skip the skate unless it is genuinely on your list.
Day One is intentionally the faster-paced holiday day. After Rockefeller Center, choose how you want to finish it: keep the energy going with cocktails and the Christmas Spectacular, or trade the show for a few quiet hours at the spa.
KALLAN NOTE Choose one — there is no need to squeeze both into the same evening.
A
Le Rock + Radio City | The Classic Finish
Reserve Le Rock around 5 PM for a polished pre-show stop right at Rockefeller Center. Keep it light with a Martini Maison + oysters, adding a small plate if you’re hungry, then walk over to Radio City for the Christmas Spectacular if it is on your list.
KALLAN NOTE Reserve around your show time and tell your server you’re heading to Radio City. The 2026 Christmas Spectacular runs November 4–January 4 with 230 performances, and tickets are already on sale. If you skip the Rockettes for the spa instead, come back to Le Rock for the full French-brasserie dinner.

B
The Peninsula Spa + Le Rock | The Slower Finish
Skip the show and step away from the holiday crowds for a late-afternoon spa treatment at The Peninsula on Fifth Avenue. Then head back to Le Rock and settle in for the full French-brasserie dinner instead of the quick pre-show version.
KALLAN NOTE The Peninsula has not released its 2026 festive spa menu yet. We’ll add the treatment we’d choose as soon as it is announced. Book the spa and Le Rock well ahead, and check the spa’s operating days before planning around it.
Macy’s → Angelina → Bryant Park → NYPL → Grand Central → The Campbell → THE GRILL
02
DAY TWO
Bryant Park to Grand Central
01
Macy’s Herald Square | Go Early
Start with the holiday windows, then head inside and make your way through the holiday floors. Skip the Santaland reservation unless meeting Santa is specifically part of your trip.
KALLAN NOTE Macy’s is iconic for a reason. For 2026, the newly reimagined Santaland opens November 27; limited VIP tickets go on sale October 22 and free general reservations open November 20. If Santa is not part of your trip, keep this stop focused on the windows, holiday floors and historic wooden escalators.
Walk about 10 minutes north to Angelina near Bryant Park. Keep it simple: coffee with a croissant or pain au chocolat, or order the famous old-fashioned hot chocolate if you want the full experience.
KALLAN NOTE Angelina is walk-in only. Keep this to coffee and pastry — lunch is coming.
Step into the Holiday Shops, see the rink and tree and wander the jewel-box kiosks. The 2026 Holiday Shops open October 28 and run through January 3, 2027.
KALLAN NOTE The 2026 Holiday Shops run October 28–January 3, and The Lodge is open October 28–February 28. If you want one festive drink while you browse, the Mulled Wine at The Lodge Bar is our pick.
Around 12:30 PM, settle in for a proper lunch overlooking Bryant Park. Reserve ahead and request a park-facing table.
KALLAN NOTE This is our current lunch pick while we wait for the 2026 holiday décor and seasonal menu details. We’ll revisit it as soon as those are released — and if another nearby lunch feels more special for Christmas, we’ll update the guide.
Cross to the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. See Astor Hall, explore the building and visit the Rose Main Reading Room when access allows.
KALLAN NOTE The Astor Hall holiday tree is a longtime NYPL tradition. We’ll add any specific 2026 installation details and holiday hours as soon as the Library publishes them.
Grand Central | Ceiling, Whispering Gallery + Holiday Fair
Walk about 10 minutes east. Start in the Main Concourse and look up at the celestial ceiling, then find the Whispering Gallery outside the Oyster Bar. Stand in opposite corners and whisper into the tiled arch — you can hear each other across the gallery.
Finish with the Grand Central Holiday Fair in Vanderbilt Hall, confirmed for November 9–December 24, 2026.
KALLAN NOTE The Whispering Gallery is the little detail most people walk right past. Do it before cocktails.
You’re already inside Grand Central, so step into the former private office of Jazz Age financier John W. Campbell and take a look at the soaring room, stone fireplace and old-New-York details. If there’s a seat, stay for one cocktail.
KALLAN NOTE Don’t build the evening around getting a bar seat here. If it’s packed, enjoy the room and move on — your dinner reservation is the plan. We’ll add the 2026 seasonal cocktail worth ordering if one stands out when the holiday menu is released.
Finish the weekend with a proper New York dinner in the landmarked Seagram Building, about a 10-minute walk from Grand Central. THE GRILL is old-school New York dressed up: a grand midcentury room, serious cocktails, tableside service and an American chophouse menu.
KALLAN NOTE Reserve well ahead for December. If The Campbell is packed, head here early and start with a cocktail at the bar. The signature prime rib is carved tableside. This is our current final-dinner pick; we’ll review the 2026 festive menus and holiday rooms as they’re released and update this stop if something feels even more special for Christmas.
Build each day in order. Choose the date, part of day and time, add the place or plan and any notes, then send individual plans to your calendar. Add as many items as you need and use the arrows to rearrange them.
